Soon after I wake up every morning, I eat breakfast and coffee either goes with it or pretty immediately follows it. I grind the appropriate amount of beans each day and make a pour over. Until recently, I was the only one in my house to drink coffee. But I do make it for my son every Monday and Friday now. Whether fixing for one or two, I prefer a pour over, and it’s worth the “effort.” I try to purchase beans that have been recently roasted and almost always sweeten it with maple syrup and add half n half.

Just like I wake up with coffee every morning, I have an every evening drink as well. For years now, I drink a hot ginger tea every single night. Nothing special to it (except that I like it extra strong). Just dried ginger (or occasionally fresh if I’m feeling fancy and have it on hand) and hot water. I don’t like adding anything to it. It’s the perfect way to end the day.

So, that’s my morning and evening drink routine, and here’s exactly what I use:

OXO Burr Coffee Grinder - I’ve had this for over 5 years. I use it every morning. It has worked beautifully. And, at one point, I even misplaced the lid and OXO sent an entire new lid and top container for free!

Chemex 3-Cup Pour-Over Glass Coffeemaker - I’ve also had this for over 5 years, and it’s the one I grab for every day. Easy to clean, and it looks pretty sitting out in my little coffee area on the counter.

Chemex 8-Cup Pour-Over Glass Coffeemaker - I got rid of any other way to make coffee a little while after I switched to a pour-over setup. But in case I had guests, I purchased this larger Chemex coffeemaker. It also worked out because, as I mentioned, my son now drinks coffee with me sometimes. I make more than 3 cups for the both of us, so I use this one when we drink coffee together.

Chemex Unbleached Coffee Filters - Of course, got to have filters for the pour-over. There are cheaper “off brand” options, but I prefer these. I use this size in my 3-cup and 8-cup versus having different filter options. They are always the best price at World Market. And if you have one near you, they often have 10-20% off if you order for pickup.
